Yichen Xu
Yichen received his Medical degree from Nanchang University and his Biomedical degree from Queen Mary University of London in 2021. He subsequently joined the neurosurgery residency program at Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University. During his clinical rotations, he developed a strong interest in functional neurosurgery and research involving patients with movement disorders. Following the completion of his residency, Yichen began his PhD in the Department of Functional Neurosurgery at Beijing Tiantan Hospital in 2024. His doctoral research investigates the role of basal ganglia oscillatory activity in the motor and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease. In 2025, Yichen joined this lab as a visiting PhD student to expand his research scope. He currently focuses on how Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) modulates neural activity and investigates the effects of these manipulations on behavior and clinical symptom improvement.
