Bo Yin
Bo Yin received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2023. His doctoral research focused on developing genetic-programming-based control strategies for suppressing periodic and aperiodic thermoacoustic oscillations in laminar combustion systems. After completing his PhD, he continued at HKUST as a postdoctoral fellow and spent six months at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology as a visiting scholar, where he worked on the control of oscillations in a hydrogen-enriched turbulent staged combustor.
In 2025, Bo joined the lab as a visiting postdoctoral fellow, where he extended his control-engineering expertise to neuromodulation via deep brain stimulation and deepened his interdisciplinary research at the interface of fluid dynamics and neuroscience. His research centers on developing advanced machine learning control strategies for complex, highly nonlinear engineering systems and for therapeutic applications in Parkinson’s disease.
